This was my first musical in Shanghai! This is a very small musical with only two people in the cast, so it does require a lot of carrying from the two actors. Both from my show was great, and this was also the show that made one of them become my favorite musical theater actor! They did kind of change the plot, as the characters are originally queer, but they definitely had to change that for China lmao. However, it’s a pretty big part of the plot as it is the main reason one of the characters agrees to help the other. Taking that out made some things not clear, but the overall story-telling was still decently solid. The staging was interesting? as it was a square platform in the center and the audience was seated around it. The main issue was definitely the random pillars on the stage as it blocked a lot of sight for a lot of people. The singing was super solid though!
