This is probably the best Chinese musical I have seen the industry produce so far. I have watched the show before, and it was honestly pretty bad lmao. However, the musical was really strong. The story was well-paced and a lot of character motivation and development made a lot more sense than whatever the fuck the show was lol. The vocals were ACTUALLY insane and I loved that every character had a song. They also portrayed many deep/sensitive topics a lot better than the show, I was honestly just so impressed how well they described the plot. There was one song about the character and her experience with sexual assault and honestly it was really impactful because of how well they showed the victims and effect of the assault on them as a person. I appreciated that everything around the subject was very realistic and nothing was really glorified for the media. Would 100% see it again.
