This was a small 3-character musical in a very intimate theater in Shanghai. The actors were great and the plot had very humorous moments despite discussing topics of abandonment and abuse experienced at orphanages and foster homes. There was an interactive section with the audience as a comedic relief, and I felt that it was actually very well-placed. The vocals were strong, but nothing that stunned me like vocals from Matilda or Ain’t Too Proud. The Chinese music theatre industry is still fairly new and developing though, so it’s great to see small shows like this being put on!
